About

Thank you for finding your way to my blog!

A bit about me:

With my blog, I have crossed into the world of actually writing down the many thoughts and interests I’ve held regarding Black identity and history, from stories of Black British Civil Rights leaders and activists, like Claudia Jones and William Cuffey, to recounting the bravery of Queen Nzinga in the 17th century to successfully defeat Portuguese colonists.

I see my blog, named everlivingroots, as an outlet for engagement with black identities and histories. We, of African descent, have had, and still have, many great stories to document; there are too many to cover with completeness. I want everlivingroots to serve as a conduit of said stories and histories, so that we can all learn and grow from one another as much as possible. Knowledge is power.

  1. Hello Jordan, I randomly come across your blog. Interesting articles and viewpoints. As a second generatio, fortysomething, British born African I have reached the point of not wanting to repress my actual thoughts regarding how my culture, language and food along with other African and Caribbean ones have been diluted thus making it comfortable to the non black majority. Bravo and good luck with your esteemed studies in physics.

Hi there. My name is Dominic and I am a student at the University of Toronto. I would like to request permission to use one of your images to design a poster for a mental health workshop and discussion on my campus. This image can be found here: https://pillsandpolicies.com/2016/10/13/lets-talk-about-black-mental-health/ from an article called Let’s Talk About Black Mental Health written by you in 2016. I do not want to infringe any copyright laws. Hope to hear from you soon.

    1. Hi Dominic. Thank you for getting in touch.

I do not actually own that image, so I unfortunately cannot give definitive permission for you to use it.

However, I believe that the editor of the post may have found that photo on Google under a free, non-commercial search, but of that I am not exactly sure.

I hope that helps somewhat! I wish you all the best of luck with your workshop.
